While Adam Place scored his first goal as a Cobourg Cougar on Monday night, it wasn't his first goal scored this season at the Memorial Arena.
Place, playing for the Hamilton Red Wings at the time, tallied his first goal of the campaign on Oct. 13 in Cobourg. The forward, who was recently acquired by the Cougars, had two goals and set up two others for four points in 16 games with the Red Wings.
As Hamilton began to acquire some more veteran players, like Bruce Crawford and Tim Revell, the 19 year old Place found his role with the club diminishing.

"That helps out, getting a few points on the board and getting your confidence back," Place remarked. "I like the team better and I'm getting a little more ice time. The guys all great here, too, I'm having fun now, so that's all that matters."
With that personal assessment, Place has shown a lot of jump in the early going of his stint with the Cougars. Playing in all situations even strength as well as on the power play and penalty kill he used his speed on Monday to score a shorthanded goal.

"I just noticed they were a real hardworking team and they never give up," Place said.
Place was coming off a 2007 08 season in which he led the Ajax Attack in points with 21 goals and 23 assists. He felt that he still had something to offer the Red Wings, in his first season with Hamilton, but will now look to get that opportunity in Cobourg.
